I THINK I FEAR MONOTONY

Photography, Graphite; Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
Scalable

I fear dissatisfaction. Dissatisfaction, I think, occurs from monotony. A sense of numbing exhaustion from repetivity. The sheer repetition of mundane everyday work causes a mental absence from the tasks at hand. This piece was inspired by the prompt “So, where is Waldo, really?”
The visual narrative follows Waldo as a stereotypical overworked office employee on his daily commute to work. He feels an overwhelming surge of anxiety and derealisation. Wake up, Get Dressed. Work. Sleep. Repeat. He feels trapped by his mind. His subconscious forces his self into a state of bondage. “Nowhere, if anywhere, I am nowhere”, he thinks to himself.
